BEMUS POINT HISTORICAL SOCIETY / A BIT OF INFO ABOUT US...

ABOUT THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Bemus Point Historical society organized and elected officers on April 22, 1997. By-laws and a collection policy were written by the trustees, and through negotiations with the Bemus Point Village board, they obtained a long-term lease agreement which allowed the Society to use the old Village Hall for its headquarters and museum. On July 17, 1998 the Society was given a provisional charter by the New York Board of Regents and an absolute charter has since been received.

MEETINGS AND ACQUISITIONS

Historical Society meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the museum at 13 Alburtus Avenue (next to the Fire Department). Everyone is invited to attend these meetings. We often have special programs of historical interest; meetings are posted on the museum door and listed in the Post-Journal in the "Briefly" column. We are also on Facebook at Bemus Point Historical Society. If you would like to present a program, contact any member. The Society is pleased to receive and add to its collection any items of historical interest pertaining to the Village of Bemus Point and/or the Town of Ellery. See any member for details regarding donations or loans.
